Eligibility Conditions

ELIGIBILITY/QUALIFICATION FOR ADMISSION
TO VARIOUS COURSES

There is no entrance test or percentage of marks as criterion for admission to any of the courses (listed in this prospectus) through the ICDEOL, except in M.B.A. PGDCAand APGDIT where admission will be made on merit.

1. B.A. semester-I (Under CBCS & CCA System)
Three Years Degree Course

+2 examination under 10+2 or an examination equivalent there to of a Board/University established by law in India with pass in four written subjects (including English) with 33% marks.
OR
Provided that a student seeking admission to B.A. 1st year with Mathematics as one of the subject should have either 45% of marks in aggregate or 45 marks in Mathematics at +2 level.
OR
Pre-University examination (two years) after 10 year of schooling of an Indian University / Board recognised by H.P. University with 33% marks.
OR
Intermediate examination of an Indian University / Board of an examination recognised equivalent thereto (pass in four subjects with 33% marks) including English.
OR
An examination of a university / Board / College or school in Foreign Country recognised as equivalent to the above purpose by the Vice-Chancellor / Equivalence Committee either of its own or on the recommendations of Association of Indian Universities with 33% marks.
OR
B.A. / B.Sc. / B.Com. Part-1 of old three year degree course of a recognised University /Board/College with 33% marks.

Note :English as one of the subject is essential at +2 level.



2. B.A. PART-II (THREE-YEAR DEGREE COURSE)

B.A. - II shall be open to a person who has passed B.A.-I (under+3 system of the new three year degree course) or its equivalent.



3. B.A. PART-III (THREE-YEAR DEGREE COURSE)

Admission to B.A. III shall be open to a person who has passed B.A.-II examination (under+3 system of the new three year course) or its equivalent.


4. B.Com. Semester-I (Under CBCS & CCA System) Three Years Degree Course

Admission to B.Com. Part-I shall be open to a person who has passed +2 examination of a Board/University established by law in India with Maths/Economics as compulsory subjects at +2 stage.
OR
Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (Class XII) of the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi or an examination recognised as equivalent thereto with Maths/Eco. as compulsory subject. The aggregate marks required will be determined on the basis of one language and three other pass elective subjects.
OR
Pre-University examination (two years after ten-year schooling) with Maths/Economics as compulsory subject of an Indian University/Board recognised by the H.P. University.
OR
Intermediate examination with Maths/Economics as a compulsory subject of an Indian University/Board or an examination equivalent thereto or Indian School Certificate Examination (Class XII) with Maths and Economics as compulsory subjects of the Council of Indian School Certificate Examination, New Delhi.
OR
Any examination of a University/Board College or School of a foreign country recognised as equivalent with Maths/Economics as compulsory subject for the above purpose by the Vice-Chancellor/Equivalence Committee either of its own or on the recommendation of the Association of Indian Universities.
OR
B.Sc/B.Com/B.A. Part-I of old three year degree course of a recognised University/Board College with Maths/Eco. as compulsory subject.


5. B.COM. PART - II (THREE-YEAR DEGREE COURSE)

Admission to B.Com.-II shall be Open to a person who has passed B.Com. 1st Year (under+3
system of the new three year degree course) or equivalent.


6. B.COM. PART - III (THREE -YEAR DEGREE COURSE)

Admission to B.Com. III shall be open to a person who has passed B.Com.-II examination (under +3 system of the new three year course) or equivalent


7. B.C.A.
40% marks at the 10+2 level. There will be no age bar and no entrance examination. The admission will be on the basis of qualifying examination.

B.C.A. PART-II (THREE YEAR DEGREE COURSE)

A candidate should have passed at least 50% of papers of first year to get promoted to the next year.

B.C.A. PART-III (THREE YEAR DEGREE COURSE)

Before the candidate is promoted from second year to third year all the papers of first year and 50% papers of second year should be cleared.


8. MASTER OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (MBA)

Admission to MBA shall be open to the holder of any first Bachelor's degree of a University established by law in India, at least with 50% marks (45% marks in the case of Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe candidates)
OR
The degree of a foreign University which may be recognised as equivalent for the purpose by the Vice-Chancellor with such conditions as he may impose regarding the additional courses of study, which the candidate would be required to pass to qualify for the degree.

Please Note:

1. The candidate applying for MBA are required to remit non-refundable processing fee of Rs. 200/- in the shape of DD/IPO to be drawn in favour of Director (ICDEOL), H. P. University, Shimla along with prescribed admission form. The admission forms not accompanied with processing fee shall summarily be rejected. Unless the admission of the candidate is finalized, the candidates are advised not to remit regular fee of the course at the time of applying for admission.

2. A student having compartment /reappear in Bachelor's Degree shall not be eligible for admission to MBA.

3. As number of seats have been restricted to 200, the admission shall be made on the basis of merit at the qualifying examination. In case of tie, the same shall be resolved as per University Rules. 120 points prescribed roster for admission shall be applicable for SC/ST/PH categories.


9. MCA

The eligibility of MCA will be graduation in any stream from the recognized university with 50% marks with mathematics at 10+2 level and there will be 50 seats only in the stream. The admission will be made on the merit basis of graduation.
The preference to MCA Course shall be first given to those candidates who have cleared the entrance test of admission to MCA course of Post Graduate Centre of H.P.University.
The seats remaining vacant shall be filled up on the basis of merit in the qualifying examinations.
Direct admission to the II semester shall not be allowed


10. M. COM.

B.Com. or Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or B.A. with Commerce or B.A./B. Sc./M. A./ M.Sc. degree with Economics/Statistics/Mathematics as one of the elective subjects.
OR
Degree of a Foreign University which may be recognised as equivalent by the Vice-Chancellor with such conditions as he may impose regarding the additional courses of study which the candidate would be required to qualify for the degree.

Please Note: A student who has compartment / re-appear in B.A/B.Com. etc. will not be admitted to M.Com.


 


11. MMC

Bachelor's Degree in any discipline recognized by the University


12. PGDPM & LW

Bachelor's degree examination of a University established by law in India or an examination recognized as equivalent thereto.

Direct admission to the II Semester PGDPM & LW shall not be allowed. A Student shall also not be permitted to proceed to the second semester unless he obtains pass marks in 50 per cent of the courses prescribed for the first semester examination.


13. PGDCA
Graduate in any discipline with 40% marks

 


14. P.G.DIPLOMA IN HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT

Bachelor's degree examination of a University established by law in India or an examination recognized as equivalent thereto. Each paper will be of 100 marks.
Direct admission to the II semester shall not be allowed.


 

 

 

15. MASTER OF ARTS

(Other than Mathematics)
Semester-I
B.A. / B.Sc. / B.Com. /B.Sc. (Agri.) /B.Sc.(Home Sc.) / B.Sc.(Engg.) / MBBS / BAMS/GAMS/ B.Pharma / B.T. or B.Ed. / B. Lib. Sc. /B.L. /B.V.Sc. / B.E. / B.Tech./Vashista Shastri/BBA/ BCA of University established by Law in India or Honours in the subject of his study for M.A.

Provided that for admission to Correspondence Courses, a student should have passed the qualifying examination and irrespective of the fact whether he/she has studied the subject to be chosen for Master of Arts studies at the qualifying examination or not.

Provided further that a candidate having passed LL.B./B.Ed. / M.Ed. in the second Division or Master's Degree examination shall also be eligible for admission through correspondence course.

Provided that a candidate who has obtained Bachelor's degree in Music (Vocal) shall be eligible for admission in M.A. (VOCAL) and the candidate who has obtained Bachelor's degree in Music (Instrumental) shall be eligible for admission in M.A. Music (Instrumental).
OR
Degree of a foreign University which may be recognised as equivalent for the purpose by the Vice-Chancellor with such conditions as he may impose regarding the additional courses of study, which the candidate would be required to pass to qualify for the degree.

Semester-II
Candidates admitted to semester I shall proceed to the II semester after appearing in the Semester I examination. Those who fail to appear in the examination but have completed the courses of instruction and having fulfilled other requirements prescribed for the course may also be allowed to proceed to the II semester.

Direct admission to II semester may be allowed as per provisions regulating such admission.

Semester-III
Candidates who have appeared in semester II of the concerned course shall only be allowed to proceed to the III semester.

Semester-IV
Candidates who have appeared in semester III of the concerned course shall be allowed to proceed to the IV semester.


16. M.A./M.Sc. MATHEMATICS

Semester-I
Candidates who have passed B.A./ B.Sc. with Mathematics as an elective subject or B.Sc. (Engg.) can seek admission to M.A./M.Sc. Mathematics course.

Semester-II/III/IV
Same as prescribed for M.A. courses. No direct admission shall, however be allowed to the II semester in M.A./M.Sc. Mathematics.


17. B.Ed. Course

The candidates who wish to apply for B.Ed. course (Distance Education mode) should fulfill the following criteria:

(a) The applicant should be a teacher possessing Graduation/Post Graduation Degree with 55% (50% marks in case of SC/ST) with two years teaching experience in a Government or Government recognised school located in the territorial jurisdiction of the University and within the State of Himachal Pradesh. The eligibility conditions are and shall be the same as prescribed by the NCTE/any other competent authority from time to time.

Note:
The admission shall be made on the basis of Academic Merit.
( b )The candidate should have any of the following combination of subjects at the graduation level:

i] Medical Stream
B.Sc. Pass Course with Zoology, Chemistry and any other science subject
or
B.Sc. Pass Course with Botany, Chemistry and any other science subject
or
B.Sc. Honours in Zoology with Chemistry as subsidiary subject
or
B.Sc. Honours in Botany with Chemistry as subsidiary subject
or
B.Sc. Honours in Chemistry with Zoology or Botany as subsidiary subject

ii] Non-Medical Stream
B.Sc. Pass Course with Physics, Mathematics and any other science subject
or
B.Sc. Pass Course with Chemistry, Mathematics and any other science subject
or
B.Sc. Honours in Physics with Mathematics as subsidiary subject
or
B.Sc. Honours in Chemistry with Mathematics as subsidiary subject
or
B.Sc. Honours in Mathematics with Physics or Chemistry as subsidiary subject

iii] Commerce Stream
B. Com.

iv] Arts Stream
B.A. Pass Course with English, Hindi or Sanskrit and at least one of the following subjects viz. History, Economics, Political Science, Geography, Public Administration, Sociology and Mathematics.
or
B.A. Honours in English, Hindi or Sanskrit with any of the following as subsidiary or additional subsidiary subject: History, Economics; Political Science; Geography; Public Administration; Sociology, Mathematics or B.A. Honours in History, Economics; Political Science; Geography; Public Administration; Sociology or Mathematics with any of the following as subsidiary or additional subsidiary subject: English, Hindi, Sanskrit

No other stream such as B.A./B.Sc. Home Science, B.Sc. Agriculture, B.Sc. Economics, B.Com. etc., or subject combinations will be allowed.

The candidate who fulfill the eligibility criteria as mentioned in the Hand Book of Information should only apply. The original certificates/documents/ testimonials, etc. will be checked at the time of counseling. Any information supplied by the candidate, if found false at any stage, shall make them liable for cancellation of their candidature/admission.


23. M.A. Ed. COURSE

The applicant should possess B.Ed. with 55% marks (50% marks in case of SC/ST) with two years teaching/professional experience after completion of B.Ed. programme in a Government/Government recognised school/NCTE recognised teacher education research institute in education. The eligibility conditions are and shall be the same as prescribed by the NCTE/and other competent authority from time to time.

Basis of Admission :
The basis of admission to M.A.Ed. (2 year course) shall be as under:
The admission to M.A.Ed. will be made strictly on the basis ofmarks obtained in the entrance test.



THE COUNSELLING PROCESS FOR ADMISSION IN B.Ed. and M.A.Ed. COURSES

The counselling for admission to M.A.Ed. course will start 15 days after the declaration of result in ICDEOL H.P. University, Shimla. In case of B. Ed. The date of counselling counselling will be decided after finalization of eligibility of the candidates. The eligible candidates shall be intimated about their date of counselling through ‘counselling card’ individually. The University will not be responsible for postal delay, if any involved, in the receipt of Counselling Card by the candidate or if it is lost in the post. If the candidate fails to receive the counselling card in time due to the postal delay or some other reason, he/she should personally contact the ICDEOL and enquire about his/her position in the merit list on or before the date of counselling. Though the ICDEOL will make all possible efforts to dispatch the counselling card, the candidate himself/herself shall be finally responsible for the knowledge of his/her position in the merit list and the eligibility for counselling. If the candidate fails to attend the counselling on the given date, he /she shall be marked absent, will not be interviewed again and will not have any right for admission and the seat will be allotted to the next candidate in order of merit. However, in case of unavoidable circumstances, if one is not able to attend the counselling he/she may authorize to someone to attend the counselling on his/her behalf and necessary documents required at the time of counselling.
