Department of Geography holds unique position in Himachal Pradesh University byh virtue of its disciplinary interaction with Physical, Social and Life Sciences. Department was founded way back in late 1980s but it has created its niche in the University. Despite its keen thrust on academics, Department of Geography has been keenly engaged in extra-co-curriculum activities. I am happy to share that Department of Geography celebrates the Earth Day and Ozone Day every year. The department also organizes invited talks, capacity building training programmes, research methodology workshops and seminars regularly. The Department of Geography is keenly engaged in different research activities and handling research projects on different geographical issues and problems. These research projects have been funded by different National Government bodies. Department of Geography is doing well on both teaching and research fronts The non-teaching staff of the department also works honestly. I wish the department every success in future for their upcoming initiatives.
