The Department of Chemistry, Himachal Pradesh University is one of the most prestigious departments of the university owing to its vital role in promoting post-graduate teaching and research. It is a matter of great academic satisfaction that Department of Chemistry has taken research as prime goal. Our cherished dream is to provide value based quality education to young generation. This highly globalised and competitive world calls for excellence and specialisation in one’s field of activity. New and innovative ideas in the field of scientific theory and research have become the need of the hour and this department provides the students a platform to develop scientific temperament and to transform them to budding scientists. The department enjoys very high reputation at the international level owing to its enviable track record of outstanding academic and research accomplishments. The point that the Department of Chemistry is marching forward at a great pace is supported by the fact that it has completed UGC-SAP-DRS (I), UGC-SAP-DRS (II) and DST-FIST level -I. At present, the Department is availing UGC-SAP-DRS (III) programme.

The vision of the department is not only to generate enthusiasm for creative future of Chemistry and to induce a sense of appreciation for wonderful world of Chemistry but also training students to enable them to meet the requirements of teaching, research & development, industrial and allied social needs.
