Industry and education are the two pivots of escalation of business as per the necessity of market which is looking for new, innovative and accessible services and products to the consumers for which, business enterprises are following the most innovative technologies to meet-out such requirements and are preparing the human resource not only to be equipped with the latest technologies but being conversant of their uses. Such scenario has created an environment of competition and dependence of economies on technology.

          The correlation between industrial technological environment and the education system has compelled the latter to think and to devise such a system which would be compatible to the industrial demand. The need of the present educational system particularly with reference to commerce, is that students must have the usage of technology. Department of Commerce in Himachal Pradesh University, is blessed with excellence of teaching faculty known for academic and research not only in India but overseas as well.

          The visionary approach reflects through research exposure and results of the Department, Commerce department has the proud privilege of having record number of JRF qualified candidates and still the March is going on. With the establishment of department in the year 1991,  it has achieved success in spreading of commerce education through M.Com., M.Phil and Ph.D. courses. The instance of such achievement can be considered as after completion of education, the students are playing important role in spreading commerce education in schools and colleges of the rural and remote areas of Himachal Pradesh also.

The alumni of the department are administrators, teachers in the colleges and universities, bankers and successful businessmen. Such a tremendous record of success of the Commerce Department is because of the efficient administrative back-up and excellence of faculty by assisting towards imparting quality education in research and inculcating moral values among students.

I wish that in the forth coming time, the department of Commerce will achieve the new heights in teacher-taught orientation, results and personality development of students who would be successful leaders excelling in various fields.
