Population Studies, as a subject of the scientific study of human population, opens the gateway to understand the dynamics of human population change in terms of fertility, mortality and migration.  It also helps to assess the cascading implications of a changing population for the individuals, societies and environment in wider framework.  As a job oriented course, it introduces the students to a range of diverse concepts, theoretical perspectives and methodological issues that are rooted in the disciplines of anthropology, economics, geography, sociology, statistics, tec.  Exposures to different data sources, data analytics, policy formulations as well as programme interventions in national and international domain are some of the salient strengths of this course.  Annual intake for the course in the first year is limited to a total of 35 seats, including the reservations for deprived sections and in service candidates, and is open to graduate students from a variety of disciplines.
