Legal professionals make a real difference in people’s lives and society looks towards theirs for leadership in various fields. The objective of Department of Law, Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla is to prepare the students not simply to manage the many roles that lawyers play but to fulfil the responsibilities that our society places on the profession. Our goal is to prepare the Legal professional to overcome the challenges of present scenario and to help our society that is effective and fair, compassionate, principled but practical.

The learning environment at Department of Law is challenging.  The diversity of the student’s background and opinion creates a rich classroom environment. The relationship between the students and the faculty is open and accessible. Our Faculty members are known, nationally and internationally, as outstanding scholars in their fields and are committed to teaching. Department of Law is continuously providing High Quality Learning, Teaching and training. Department have separate Library with rare collection, online updated sources, Journals, magazines, well equipped Computer Lab, Moot Court Room and Legal Aid Clinic.

The proud Alumni are the strength of the Department. Our Alumni are in every State and all over the World. We have Supreme Court Judges, High Court Judges, Chief Minister, Cabinet Ministers in Central Govt. and State Govt. Leaders of Various Political Parties, Bureaucrats, Police officers, Ambassadors, leading Advocatesin Supreme Court and High Court, legal Advisers and Consultants as proud Alumni.
