Eligibility

1. Master of Arts (M.A.)

"B.A/ B.Sc./ B.Com/ B.Sc.(Agri)/ B.Sc.(Home Science)/ B.Sc. (Engg) / BBS/ BAMS/GAMS/ B. Parma B.T or B.Ed/ B.Lib.Sc./ B.L./B.V.Sc./B.E./ B.Tech./ Vashista Shastri/./BBA/BCA of University established by law in India at least in second division or with 45% marks or honours in the subject of his study for M.A.".OR

Degree of a foreign University which may be recognised as equivalent for the purpose by the Vice-Chancellor with such conditions as he may impose regarding the additional courses of study which the candidate would be required to pass to qualify for the degree. Provided further that a candidate who has passed B.A. Pass Examination with atleast 45% marks in the Public Administration or Sociology shall be eligible for admission to M.A. (Pol. Science) and a candidate who has passed the B.A.(Pass) examination with 45% marks in Ancient Indian History and Culture shall be eligible for admission to M.A. History and candidate having Acharya / Vashishta Shastri degree in Sanskrit will be eligible for admission to M.A. Sanskrit. Provided that the candidate having passed either B.Ed. / B.T. examination in second division (both in theory and skill in teaching) or second division in M.Ed. examination or B.A. examination with Sociology or Philosophy with 45% marks in these subjects, shall also be eligible for admission to M.A. Course in Psychology.

Provided that a candidate seeking admission to M.A. Course in the subjects mentioned below must also possess the following minimum qualifications.

Basis of Admission

The admission will be made purely on merit, except where otherwise mentioned, subject to the limitation of seats available and the reservation. The following are the eligibility conditions for admission to various courses, provided further that for the purpose of admission 0.5% and above marks should be considered equal to 1% marks (Notification No. 4-9/94-HPU-Acad. dated 27-6-1995)

2. Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.)

M.Phil. is a full time regular course of study pursued by regular attendance in classes and seminars. A candidate seeking admission to the M.Phil course must have at least 55% marks (50% in case of SC/ST) in the subject concerned at Master's level. The qualifying marks in the Entrance Test for admission to Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) shall be 50% (at per with Ph.D.). In case of SC/ST candidates, qualifying marks in the Entrance Test shall be 45%.

3. Doctor of Philosophy (Ph. D.)

Ph.D. is a full time regular course of study pursued by regular attendance in classes and seminars. A candidate seeking admission to the Ph. D. course must have at least 55% marks (50% in case of SC/ST) in the subject concerned at Master's level. The qualifying marks in the Entrance Test for admission shall be 50%. In case of SC/ST candidates, qualifying marks in the Entrance Test are 45%.
