•The department is focused on preparing students for careers as professional artists, designers, and art educators. We aim to stimulate and provoke students, encouraging the development of independent and challenging thought as expressed and inscribed in the visual arts. We propose that art is inquiry. The faculty embraces holistic teaching that integrates art history and critical theory with traditional studio practice and emerging new media. In addition, the department organizes visiting artists, lectures, and student workshops.
