Admission in Masters in Yoga Studies (M.A) Criteria :

A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent with a minimum of 48 credits in Major subject, 48 credits in two minor subjects, 9 credits in compulsory, 1 credit in GI & hobby with aggregate of 106 credits for the award of pass degree OR with atleast 50% marks in aggregate (45% in case of SC.ST.) from a University established by law in India. In Master of translation, and M.A. in Yoga studies, preference will be given to those students who have studied these subject at undergraduate

 

Basis of Admission:

Basis of Admission : The admission to the above courses will be made strictly on the basis of marks obtained in the entrance test. The candidates will be required to answer 50 multiple choice questions of 2 marks each. The final merit will be worked out of 100 marks. (The duration of the (M.A.) and M.Com. courses will be two academic years spread over in four semesters.

Admission in Masters in Philosophy (M.Phil) Criteria :

A person desirous of pursuing the course of study for M.Phil.degree shall apply online with the prescribed fee of Rs. 1000/- (Rs. 500/- in case of SC/ST/Antodaya/IRDP Candidates). The Fee for Non-Subsidized seats is Rs. 1000/-. The applications will be examined by the Departmental Council or admission committee constituted by the Chairperson which will approve the final list of admission. The Chairperson of the department will display the list of candidates to be admitted.

M.Phil. shall be a full time regular course of study with regular attendance in classes and seminars.

 

Eligibility:

A candidate seeking admission to the M.Phil.Geography course must have at least 55% Marks (50% in case of SC/ST/PWD) in the subject concerned at Master’s level.

Qualifying Marks for Admission to M.Phil.

It was decided that qualifying marks in the Entrance Test for admission to Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) shall be 50% (at par with Ph.D.) . In case of SC/ST/PWD candidates, qualifying marks in the Entrance Test shall be 45%.

Basis of Admission:

The admission to the course will be made as under :
For course under Faculties of Social Sciences
  1. One paper of 50 marks of 1 hour ‘sduration. The written test shall be of Multiple choice Question in each subject. There will be 50 question of 1 mark each + Aggregate of percentage obtained in M.A. examination
  2. Merit will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained in the entrance Test +aggregate %age obtain in M.A. examination

Admission in Ph.D Criteria :​

Subject to the conditions stipulated in these Regulations, the following persons are eligible to seek admission to the Ph.D. Programme:
  1. Candidate for admission to the Ph.D. programme shall have a Master’s degree or a professional degree declared equivalent to the Master’s Degree by the corresponding statuary regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade “B” in the UGC-7 point scale (or equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) or an equivalent degree from a foreign educational Institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in the country for the purpose of assessing, accrediting or assuring quality and standards of education institutions.
 
  1. A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% or an equivalent relaxation of grade, may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/Differently – abled and other categories of candidate as per the decision of the university from time to time, or for those who had obtained their Master’s degree prior to 19th September, 1991. The eligibility marks of 55% (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system followed) and the relaxation of 5% to the categories mentioned above are permissible based only on the qualifying marks.
 
  1. A person whose M.Phil. dissertation has been evaluated and the viva-voce pending may by admitted to the Ph.D. programme of the same Institution;
 
  1. 3% seats will be reserved for Pwd candidates.
 
  1. The other eligible candidates including those who have qualified their M.Phil. degree from H.P. University will have to appear in the Entrance Test of 80 marks.
 
However, weight-age will be accorded to them as follows:
 
UGC-NET Qualified students
20 Marks
SLET qualified candidates
15 Marks
Those candidates who have qualified M.Phil. from H.P. University,
10 Marks

Duration of the Programme:

  1. M.Phil. programme shall be for a minimum duration of two (2) consecutive semesters / one year and a maximum for four (4) consecutive semesters / two years.
  2. Ph.D. programme shall be for a minimum duration of three years, including course work and a maximum of six years
  3. Extension beyond the above limits will be governed by the relevant clauses as stipulated in the Statute/Ordinance of the individual Institution concerned.
  4. The women candidates and Person with Disability (more than 40% disability) may be allowed a relaxation of one year for M.Phil. and two years for Ph.D. in the maximum duration. In addition, the women candidates may be provided Maternity leave/child care leave once in the entire duration of M.Phil./Ph.D. for upto 240 days.

Procedure of Admission :

  1. All Universities and Institutions Deemed to be Universities shall admit M.Phil/Ph.D. students through an Entrance Test conducted at the level of Individual University/Institution Deemed to be a University. The University/Institution Deemed to be a University may decide separate terms and conditions for Ph.D. Entrance Test for those students who qualify UGC-NET (including JRF)/UGC-CSIR NET (including JRF) SLET/GATE/teacher fellowship holder or have passed M.Phil. programme. Similar approach may be adopted in respect of Entrance test for M.Phil. Programme.
  2. The admission shall be based on the criteria notified by the Institution, keeping in view the guidelines/norms in this regard issued by the UGC and other statutory bodies concerned, and taking into account the reservation policy of the Central/State Government from time to time.
  3. An entrance test shall be qualifying with qualifying marks as 50%. The syllabus of the entrance test shall consist of 50% of research methodology and 50% shall be subject specific. The Entrance Test shall conducted at the Centre(s) notified in advance (changes of centers, if any, also to be notified well in advance) at the level of the individual HEI as mentioned above.

A Bachelor’s degree in any stream from a University established by law in India with a minimum of 48 credits in Major subject, 48 credits in two minor subjects, 9 credits in compulsory, 1 credit in GI & hobby with aggregate of 106 credits for the award of pass degree.

OR

A Bachelor’s degree in any faculty of a University established by law in India
