H.P. University Sports and Youth Activities
About Us:
The Himachal Pradesh University came to its existence on 22nd July, 1970 and for the upliftment of Sports and Co-Curricular Activities among the students, H.P. University formed its Council who was entrusted with the responsibility to frame the rules and regulations of Himachal Pradesh University Sports and Co-Curricular Activities Council (HPUS&CAC). All the Principals and Assistant/Associate Professors, Physical Education of affiliated / associated / maintained Colleges are its members. The council came to its existence in the year 1972. The first Director, Physical Education and Youth Programme who happens to be the Secretary of HPUS&CAC Padam Shri Charanjit Singh joined the University on 25.3.1972 who was the captain of Indian Hockey Team for Olympics, held at Tokyo in the year 1964 and won Gold Medal for the country in that very Olympics.
Accordingly, University started conducting Inter Colleges competitions and youth festivals for the students of the H.P. University and its affiliated Colleges from the academic session 1973-1974.
Sports and Youth Activities Calendar:
At present H.P. University is conducting 44 games in both the Male and Female section at Inter College level and at Inter University level and also 25 events of Youth Activities in Dance, Music, Theatre and Creativity which is divided into Four Groups at Inter College level as well as at Inter-University level. Scholarships / Incentive to the outstanding Sportspersons :
The University is also provides 16 scholarships to the Outstanding Sportsperson of the University Campus @ 500/- per month. Further, University is also providing handsome incentive to the sportsperson who brought laurel to the University during the Inter University championship every year.

Sports Facilities:
The H.P. University has its outdoor sports field (multipurpose ground) in which games like (Football, Cricket, Hockey, Athletics, Volleyball, Basketball, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho and Handball) being played by the sportsperson of the University.
The H.P. University for indoor games like Chess, Badminton, Table-Tennis, Shooting, Weightlifting, Boxing, Judo, Wushu, Taekwondo and wrestling higher Distt. Youth Services and Sports Indoor complex for the training/coaching of sportsperson of the University. Further, for water sports University higher Water Sports Complex at Pong Dam for the training /coaching of sportsperson of the University.
The H.P. University have three Coaches in the field of Football, Cricket and Handball and for the training / Coaching of other games mentioned above the services of State Govt. / SAI Coaches being availed from time to time for the training /coaching of University players.
