Functions
Himachal Pradesh University maintains FOURTEEN hostels; FOUR for boys and TEN for girls. These provide accommodation to approx. 1042 girls and 593 boys. The hostel administration has following levels; chief warden, additional chief warden and warden.
The Chief Warden will make arrangements for the residence, messing, supervision and discipline of students residing in the University hostels or any other duty assigned to him by the Vice-Chancellor. He shall be the drawing and disbursement officers in respect of hostels. He shall be responsible for the smooth functioning of the hostels and allocation of available accommodation/seats to the students in consultation with the Additional Chief Warden and Wardens in accordance with the rules. Additional Chief Warden (female) will look after the routine work of girls’ hostels and assists the chief warden.

Hostels have facilities of Mess, Common Room; TV, Reading Room, and Indoor games. Each hostel has warden; he/she is responsible for its smooth functioning and office staff to carry out the routine activities. The boarders are given representation through various committees of the hostel in managing routine affairs. The warden alongwith different committees maintain discipline, academic and peaceful atmosphere in the hostel.
The security issues in hostels shall be responsibility of Chief Security Officer and hostel maintenance shall be the responsibility of Executive Engineer (construction and maintenance) of the university.
