ELIGIBILITY/QUALIFICATION FOR ADMISSION
TO VARIOUS COURSES
There is no entrance test or percentage of marks as criterion for admission to any of the courses (listed in this prospectus) through the ICDEOL, except in B.Ed., MA Education & M.B.A. where admission will be made on merit.

ELIGIBILITY/QUALIFICATIONS FOR ADMISSION TO VARIOUS COURSES
B. A. 1ST YEAR (under cbcs system)
THREE -YEAR DEGREE COURSE
Plus Two examinations under 10+2 or an equivalent examination conducted by a Board/University established by law in India. The candidate should have passed in four written subjects including English.
OR
2.1 For Admission
a. A pass in the Senior Secondary (+2) Examination (Academic Stream) conducted by the H.P Board of School Education (or in case of Shashtri, pass. in Prak Shashtri from Sanskrit Colleges affiliated to the HPU) or an examination accepted as equivalent thereto by the various bodies of the H.P. University.
(i) Provided that the candidates who .have passed the qualifying examination with science stream shall be given preference in admission to B.C.A programme.
(ii) Provided that the candidates who have passed the qualifying examination with commerce stream shall be given preference in admission to B.Com. programme.
(iii) Provided that the candidates who have passed Prak Shashtri examination from Sanskrit Colleges shall be given preference in admission to Shashtri programme .
B.COM. 1st Year (UNDER CBCS SYSTEM)
(THREE-YEAR DEGREE COURSE)
Admission to B.Com. Ist year shall be open to a person who has passed +2 examination of a Board/University established by law in India with Maths/Economics as compulsory subjects at 10+2 stage.
OR
Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (Class XII) of the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi or an examination recognised as equivalent thereto with Maths/ Economics as compulsory subject. The aggregate marks required will be determined on the basis of one language and three other pass elective subjects.
OR
Pre-University examination (two years after ten-year schooling) with Maths/ Economics as a compulsory subject of an Indian University/Board recognised by the H.P. University.
OR
Intermediate examination with Maths/Economics as a compulsory subject of an Indian University/Board or an examination equivalent thereto or Indian School Certificate Examination (Class XII) with Maths and Economics as compulsory subjects of the Council of Indian School Certificate Examination, New Delhi.
OR
Any examination of a University/Board College or School of a foreign country recognised as equivalent with Maths/Economics as a compulsory subject for the above purpose by the Vice-Chancellor/Equivalence Committee either of its own or on the recommendation of the Association of Indian Universities.
MASTER OF COMMERCE (M.Com.)
B.Com. (old), B.Com. (RUSA) or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or B.A. with Commerce or B.A./B. Sc./M.A./ M.Sc. degree with Economics/Statistics/Mathematics as one of the elective subjects.
OR
Degree of a Foreign University which may be recognized as equivalent by the Vice-Chancellor with such conditions as he may impose regarding the additional courses of study which the candidate would be required to qualify for the degree.
Please Note: A student who has compartment / re-appear in B.A./B.Com. etc. will not be admitted to M.Com.
MA (JMC)
Bachelors Degree in any discipline recognized by the University.
MASTER OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (MBA)
Admission to MBA shall be open to the holder of any first Bachelor’s degree of a University established by law in India, with at least 50% marks (45% marks in the case of Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe candidates)
OR
The degree of a foreign University which may be recognized as equivalent for the purpose by the Vice-Chancellor with such conditions as he/ she may impose regarding the additional courses of study, which the candidate would be required to pass to qualify for the degree.
Please Note:
1. A student having compartment /reappear in Bachelor’s Degree shall not be eligible for admission to MBA.
2. As the number of seats have been restricted to 300, admission shall be made on the basis of merit at the qualifying examination. In case of a tie, the same shall be resolved as per University Rules. 120 point prescribed roster for admission shall be applicable for SC/ST/PH categories.
DIPLOMA IN YOGA STUDIES (DYS)
A candidate possessing a graduate degree in any faculty from a recognized University in India or abroad shall be eligible for admission to the Diploma in Yoga Studies.
A candidate should be Medically Fit. A Medical Fitness Certificate in this regard issued from the Medical Officer of the Institute shall be produced. A Medical Examination shall be conducted in the Institute. Candidate suffering from any chronic disease and advised not to seek admission to this Course.
DIPLOMA IN TOURIST GUIDE (DTG)
Plus Two (10+2) in any discipline.
DIPLOMA IN DATA SCIENCE (DDS)
Duration: One year
Eligibility: Graduation in any stream with 50% aggregate marks in qualifying exam
(45% for SC/ST/PWD)
DIPLOMA IN COMPUTER APPLICATIONS (DCA)
Duration: One year
Eligibility: 10+2 in any stream with 50% aggregate marks (45% for SC/ST/PWD)
MASTER OF ARTS
Semester-I
B.A. / B.Sc. / B.Com. /B.Sc. (Agri.) /B.Sc.(Home Sc.) /B.Sc. in Hospitality and Hotel Management / MBBS / BAMS/GAMS/ B.Pharma / B.T. or B.Ed. / B. Lib. Sc. /B.L. /B.V.Sc. / B.E. / B.Tech./Vashista Shastri/BBA/ BCA of University established by Law in India or Honours Bachelor Degree.
Provided that for admission to Correspondence Courses, a student should have passed the qualifying examination and irrespective of the fact whether he/she has studied the subject chosen for Master of Arts studies at the qualifying examination or not.
Provided further that a candidate having passed LL.B./B.Ed. / M.Ed. in the second division or Master’s Degree examination shall also be eligible for admission through correspondence course.
OR
A Bachelor's Degree of a University established by Law in India (with the subject of study for M.A./M.Sc. as one of the subjects) with a minimum of 48 credits in major subjects, 48 credits in two minor subjects, 9 credits in compulsory, 1 credit in GI & hobby with aggregate of 106 credits for the award of pass degree. In addition to this the minimum eligibility for admission to Postgraduate Course will be 20-24 credits in the subject concerned in the Undergraduate Degree.
M.A. MUSIC
A candidate who has obtained Bachelor’s degree in Music (Vocal) shall be eligible for admission in M.A. (Vocal) and a candidate who has obtained Bachelor’s degree in Music (Instrumental) shall be eligible for admission in M.A. Music (Instrumental).
OR
Degree of a foreign University which may be recognized as equivalent for the purpose by the Vice-Chancellor with such conditions as he may impose regarding the additional courses of study, which the candidate would be required to pass to qualify for the degree.
OR
A Bachelor's Degree of a University established by Law in India (with the subject of study for M.A./M.Sc. as one of the subjects) with a minimum of 48 credits in major subjects, 48 credits in two minor subjects, 9 credits in compulsory, 1 credit in GI & hobby with aggregate of 106 credits for the award of pass degree. In addition to this the minimum eligibility for admission to Postgraduate Course will be 20-24 credits in the subject concerned in the Undergraduate Degree.
8.40 (Ord.) Note: A candidate who appears in the examination of first semester and fails to obtain pass marks in any course may be permitted to proceed from first semester to but he/she shall be permitted to proceed from first semester to second semester without appearing in first semester by paying the fee as prescribed by the authority from time to time. It will be applicable in all semesters i.e. second to third, third to fourth and fourth to first where students sought admission directly in second semester.
B.Ed. Course
The candidates who wish to apply for B.Ed. course (Distance Education mode) should fulfill the following criteria:
(a)
- The candidate should fall under any of the following two criteria:
- Trained in-service teacher in elementary education. As per clarification given by Directorate of Elementary Education, Government of Himachal Pradesh vide letter no. EDN-H(Ele)(u)- 2/2015 (P&D), dated 26th August, 2015, Shastri Teachers with OT training, Language Teachers with LT training, Drawing Masters/Art and Craft Teachers with 2 years diploma, PET/PTI with 2 years diploma are trained teachers as considered by their parent department and thus, are eligible for admission in B.Ed. Course.
- Candidates who have completed a NCTE recognized teacher education programme through face-to face mode.
- In addition to any one of above eligibility conditions,
The candidate must have at least 50% marks either in the Bachelor’s Degree (Medical/Non- Medical/Commerce/Arts) and/or in the Master’s Degree in the Science/Social Science/Humanities/Commerce, Bachelor’s in Engineering or Technology with specialization in Science and Mathematics with 55% marks or any other qualification equivalent thereto, and 45 percent marks in case of SC/ST/OBC/Physically handicapped categories in the aforesaid Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree and 50% marks for Bachelor’s in Engineering or technology from a recognized University established by law in India are eligible for admission to the programme.
Note: Only those candidates who fulfil the eligibility criteria as mentioned in the Information Brochure should apply to this course. The original certificates/documents/testimonials etc. will be checked at the time of counselling. Any information supplied by the candidates, if found false at any stage, shall make them liable for cancellation of their candidature/admission. The admissions to the B.Ed. Programme through CDOE will be made solely on the basis of academic merit in qualifying examination in concerned stream of study of the eligible candidate.
The In-Service Teachers serving in government schools (Shastri/ Vishisht Shastri/Acharya/ Jyotishacharya and Language Teachers/ Prabhakar) without OT Training and LT Training respectively are eligible for admission to B.Ed. course through ODL mode only after the submission of “Trained In-Service Teachers Certificate” issued, as per the orders of Hon’ble High Court O.A. No. 5923/ 2017 dated 27-11-2017, by the respective Deputy Directors in the state of Himachal Pradesh. (Sample of the certificate has been attached for reference Annexure-IV)
Note:
The admission shall be made on the basis of Academic Merit.
( b )The candidate should have any of the following combination of subjects at the graduation level:
i] Medical Stream
B.Sc. Pass Course with Zoology, Chemistry and any other science subject
or
B.Sc. Pass Course with Botany, Chemistry and any other science subject
or
B.Sc. Honours in Zoology with Chemistry as subsidiary subject
or
B.Sc. Honours in Botany with Chemistry as subsidiary subject
or
B.Sc. Honours in Chemistry with Zoology or Botany as subsidiary subject
ii] Non-Medical Stream
B.Sc. Pass Course with Physics, Mathematics and any other science subject
or
B.Sc. Pass Course with Chemistry, Mathematics and any other science subject
or
B.Sc. Honours in Physics with Mathematics as subsidiary subject
or
B.Sc. Honours in Chemistry with Mathematics as subsidiary subject
or
B.Sc. Honours in Mathematics with Physics or Chemistry as subsidiary subject
iii] Commerce Stream
B. Com.
iv] Arts Stream
B.A. Pass Course with English, Hindi or Sanskrit and at least one of the following subjects viz. History, Economics, Political Science, Geography, Public Administration, Sociology and Mathematics.
or
B.A. Honours in English, Hindi or Sanskrit with any of the following as subsidiary or additional subsidiary subject: History, Economics; Political Science; Geography; Public Administration; Sociology, Mathematics or B.A. Honours in History, Economics; Political Science; Geography; Public Administration; Sociology or Mathematics with any of the following as subsidiary or additional subsidiary subject: English, Hindi, Sanskrit
No other stream such as B.A./B.Sc. Home Science, B.Sc. Agriculture, B.Sc. Economics, B.Com. etc., or subject combinations will be allowed.
The candidate who fulfill the eligibility criteria as mentioned in the Hand Book of Information should only apply. The original certificates/documents/ testimonials, etc. will be checked at the time of counseling. Any information supplied by the candidate, if found false at any stage, shall make them liable for cancellation of their candidature/admission.
23. M.A. Education. COURSE
The applicant should possess B.Ed. with 55% marks (50% marks in case of SC/ST) with two years teaching/professional experience after completion of B.Ed. programme in a Government/Government recognised school/NCTE recognised teacher education research institute in education. The eligibility conditions are and shall be the same as prescribed by the NCTE/and other competent authority from time to time.
Basis of Admission :
The basis of admission to M.A.Ed. (2 year course) shall be as under:
The admission to M.A.Ed. will be made strictly on the basis ofmarks obtained in the entrance test.
THE COUNSELLING PROCESS FOR ADMISSION IN B.Ed. and M.A.Ed. COURSES
The counselling for admission to M.A.Ed. course will start 15 days after the declaration of result in ICDEOL H.P. University, Shimla. In case of B. Ed. The date of counselling counselling will be decided after finalization of eligibility of the candidates. The eligible candidates shall be intimated about their date of counselling through ‘counselling card’ individually. The University will not be responsible for postal delay, if any involved, in the receipt of Counselling Card by the candidate or if it is lost in the post. If the candidate fails to receive the counselling card in time due to the postal delay or some other reason, he/she should personally contact the ICDEOL and enquire about his/her position in the merit list on or before the date of counselling. Though the ICDEOL will make all possible efforts to dispatch the counselling card, the candidate himself/herself shall be finally responsible for the knowledge of his/her position in the merit list and the eligibility for counselling. If the candidate fails to attend the counselling on the given date, he /she shall be marked absent, will not be interviewed again and will not have any right for admission and the seat will be allotted to the next candidate in order of merit. However, in case of unavoidable circumstances, if one is not able to attend the counselling he/she may authorize to someone to attend the counselling on his/her behalf and necessary documents required at the time of counselling.
