The Institute of Vocational Studies (IVS) was established in 1992 at Himachal Pradesh University Shimla. Earlier associated with the Management Studies Department, since 1999 it is an Autonomous Institute. 

The IVS has a mission of becoming one of the outstanding academic Institution imparting professional Tourism and Hospitality education. The IVS is a major study centre for producing Tourism and Hotel Management  professionals to serve in the Industry within the country and overseas. The students are oriented through dedicated teaching, training, project work in various sectors of Tourism and Hospitality. The IVS aims to make Tourism and Hospitality education a technical and employment oriented field of study with the ultimate goal of developing entrepreneurs and corportate managers.
