Policy for Research Promotion

The Institute provides a good environment for research supported by its independent library resources concerning books from several International and National authors, computer lab with internet facility. The institute has a well defined policy for promotion of research. Every year each faculty member is given a target to publish at least 3 research papers in UGC recognized journals. Further teachers are encouraged to apply for research projects from different funding agencies of the government. Teachers are also encouraged to conduct joint research with scholars from other Universities. Participation in academic conferences and seminars is also a part of the policy of promotion of research.

The Institute frequently interacts with the stakeholders of the Tourism and Hospitality Industry in order to get input on the required areas of the trade that need research. Accordingly research topics are selected for investigation so that the results of research can be valuable and of utility both to the government and the industry.

The faculty members are also encouraged to keep their research methodology concepts updated by regularly participating  in research methodology workshops organized by the Universities.

The Institute makes it mandatory for the enrolled research scholars to publish research work, participate in seminars and conferences and carry out filed studies.

The Institute is constantly engaged in collaboration with the Government  Department of Tourism and Civil Aviation, Himachal Pradesh for assisting in understanding tourist needs, satisfaction, carrying capacity of destinations and promotion of less explored or unexplored destinations in Himachal Pradesh.

The policy of research in the Institute centres around the aim that the topics selected for research will focus on community participation in tourism to ensure, socio economic and environmental  sustainability of destinations.
